Thanksgiving and Black Friday

Thanksgiving and Black Friday retail sales are expected to go over $12 billion this year, with $2 billion in sales on Thanksgiving and more than $10 billion on Black Friday. It may be a little less this year on Thanksgiving with about 42 stores announcing that they will be closed on that day including Costco, Dillards, Von Maur, Home Depot, Lowes, Neiman Marcus, Marshalls and even the Mall of America! Most firms say that they want their employees to spend time with family. Postal Connections stores also will be closed on Thanksgiving, as always.

Cyber Monday, November 28^th

The phrase, Cyber Monday, was coined by Ellen Davis, senior vice president of research and strategic initiatives at the National Retail Federation and first used in 2005 in the ecommerce community. It came from 2004 research indicating that one of the biggest online shopping days of the years was the Monday after Thanksgiving.

Printer's Corner November

The saying "a true love story never ends" has never been truer, as the Stayton Postal Connections team found out. A longtime customer came into the store with a special request – she had years of love letter correspondence from her parents, dating all the way back to the early 1900s, when mailing a letter was the primary way of communicating across long distances. Our customer wanted to create 20 books comprised of the letters and photos to give to her family for Christmas. Totaling more than 100 original pages, the letters documented the beginning of a love story that lasted a lifetime.

The Stayton Postal Connections team copied the letters and put them in order before setting each into its own book. These timeless gifts were completed a few weeks before Christmas, and resulted in one very happy customer and an entire family that was able to enjoy the books for years to come. Postal Connections plays an important part in the communities it serves, creating a bridge between customers and lasting memories.
